The UK government has unveiled a Sh20 billion investment package targeting Kenya's Big Four Projects, focusing on affordable housing, green energy, and manufacturing during President Uhuru Kenyatta's state visit to London.

UK Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced Sh5.2 billion in government aid matched by Sh3.5 billion in private funding to build 10,000 energy-efficient homes for low- and middle-income Kenyans, aligning with Kenya's 2022 target of 500,000 affordable housing units.

The initiative includes climate-focused projects such as Sh550 million for renewable energy, clean cooling, and forest restoration, including Kaptagat Forest. Raab emphasized the deal's role in creating jobs and strengthening economic ties between Nairobi and London.

Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury, Ukur Yatani, highlighted the Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC) partnership with the City of London as a key step in positioning Kenya as a regional financial hub under Vision 2030.

The UK also pledged Sh67 million for electric vehicle manufacturing support and finalized the Sh33 billion Kipeto Wind Farm, backed by Actis and the U.S. government. British High Commissioner Jane Marriott stated the agreements prioritize Kenyan interests through sustainable development.

The investments follow the Kenya-UK Economic Partnership Agreement, ensuring duty-free trade worth Sh200 billion annually and a Sh2.7 billion digital customs system to streamline commerce.
