Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) concluded the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) university placement process by mid-August 2021, following an extended application window that closed on July 23, 2021.
Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome, KUCCPS CEO, confirmed the agency completed placements and notified applicants by the target date. The revision period, initially set to end July 17, 2021, was extended to ensure all eligible candidates could submit or modify applications.
Approximately 4,359 students utilized the extension to revise their degree program selections. Over 90% of qualified candidates had applied by the first revision stage on June 11, 2021, with 131,833 of 142,540 eligible students submitting applications for government-sponsored university programs.
KUCCPS targeted 142,540 2020 KCSE graduates who met the C+ minimum grade for university admission. The agency also included secondary school leavers from 2000 to 2020 for TVET institution placements, with a second application phase reopening on June 22, 2021, for late applicants.
