On August 28, 2019, the Tong Il Moo Do Federation gave a vote of confidence to Kenya for its commitment to supporting martial arts.
The federation's Vice President, Takamitsu Hoshiko, praised President Uhuru Kenyatta for his remarkable support, which he said reflected the rising standards of the sport in the country.
"Few Heads of State have come out publicly to declare their support to the growth of Tong Il Moo Do, and as the world body, we single out Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta as one of the global supporters of the sport," said Hoshiko at a press conference in Seoul, Korea.
Kenya is among the countries participating in the World Masterships Martial Arts Championship, which starts on August 29, 2019, in Chungju, about 120km south of Seoul City.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had earlier assured the country that his administration is keen on harnessing and nurturing sporting talents among young Kenyans, saying, "We must support sports to benefit gifted youngsters,"
The federation hopes that Kenya will maintain its form and continue to improve in the sport, which has grown significantly in the past decade, with Kenya becoming the second-best nation after the Philippines.
