Published on August 28, 2019, Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua has taken a bold step in regulating public entertainment.

According to Mutua, popular hits 'Wamlambez' and 'Tetema' contain lyrics that are 'dirty and not suitable for public consumption.'

He has banned the playing of these songs in public, restricting them to bars, nightclubs, and other adult entertainment joints.

‘Tetema and Wamlambez songs are strictly forbidden outside of clubs and bars,’ said Mutua in a tweet.

He also took aim at national leaders who sing and dance to these songs in public, saying it's 'embarrassing' and not suitable for children.

‘Wamlambez’ by Sailers has garnered close to 4 million views on YouTube since its release in April this year, while ‘Tetema’ by Rayvanny and Diamond Platinumz has raked in over 27 million views.
