On August 27, 2019, Algerian coach Adel Amrouche was appointed as the new coach of Botswana, signing a three-year contract.
Botswana's football team, known as the Zebras, had a dismal performance in the last Africa Cup of Nations qualifying competition, earning only one point from a possible 18.
Amrouche, 51, has a challenging task ahead of him, as he prepares the team for their first assignment - a two-leg 2022 World Cup qualifier against Malawi between September 2 and 10.
Botswana's next matches will be against Zimbabwe and defending champions Algeria in the 2021 Cup of Nations qualifying matches.
Amrouche has previously held coaching positions in Equatorial Guinea, Burundi, Kenya, and Libya, making this his fifth national coaching assignment.
