Former Harambee Stars head coach Adel Amrouche has landed a new job as the head coach of Botswana national football team.
Amrouche, a 51-year-old Belgian of Algerian origin, has a rich coaching experience, having managed several national teams including Burundi, Equatorial Guinea, Burundi, and Libya.
He was appointed on Tuesday and will assemble his own technical team after the tie against The Flames of Malawi in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
Botswana has been drawn in Group H of the 2021 Nations Cup qualifiers, where they will face Algeria, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Amrouche's appointment comes as he is still involved in a case with Football Kenya Federation (FKF) for wrongful termination of his contract, which he is demanding KSh 132 million and an additional KSh 5 million in compensation.
It is worth noting that FIFA's Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) had previously ruled that FKF pay the Belgian KSh 60 million, but Amrouche sought an appeal at the Fifa’s Player Status Committee demanding double the amount.
He was fired in May 2014.
