German midfielder Mesut Ozil has been at the center of transfer speculation in recent weeks, but his agent, Dr Erkut Sogut, has now insisted that he will not be leaving Arsenal this summer.
According to Turkish Football, Sogut has claimed that Ozil is happy at the Gunners and will remain with the club for the rest of the season.
Ozil's absence from the squad that travelled to Liverpool on Saturday had raised questions about his future at the club, but Sogut's statement has seemingly put those rumors to rest.
However, it remains to be seen whether Ozil will be able to regain his place in the starting lineup, with Unai Emery opting to sidestep the question when asked about the reason behind Ozil's absence.
"The players here are the ones we think were the best physically to play today," Emery said.
Ozil has been struggling to make an impact at Arsenal this season, missing the opening fixture due to security concerns and failing to make an appearance since.
Despite his struggles, Ozil remains one of the top earners at the Emirates, with a £350,000 per week contract that runs for another two years.
