On Monday, August 26, 2019, Jubilee Party secretary-general Raphael Tuju announced that the party's leadership had consulted and decided to feature a candidate in the upcoming Kibra by-election.

However, the party quickly dismissed a document circulating on social media, which listed Macdonald Mariga as one of the five aspirants seeking to replace the late Ken Okoth on a Jubilee ticket.

According to the party, the document is fake news and should be ignored. 'This letter doing rounds online is fake news. Please ignore and treat it with the contempt it deserves,' the Party said.

Despite the denial, the party's leadership had earlier announced that they would be featuring a candidate in the by-election, citing their competitiveness in the area.

Other aspirants listed in the fake letter include Morris Peter Kinyanjui, Walter Trenk, Said Ibrahim, and Doreen Wasike.

Wasike was chosen as the Jubilee candidate for Kibra in 2017, while Kinyanjui was a Kibra MP aspirant in 2017 and Ibrahim was the TNA candidate in 2013. Trenk ran for senator under UDP and took the IEBC to court in 2017 for refusing to take his nomination papers.

The Kibra by-election is scheduled for November 7.
