On Sunday night, a High Court Judge's car was mistakenly shot at by police in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, after reports of a hijacking.
The officers were attempting to deflate the vehicle's tyres, believing the judge to be a hostage.
Fortunately, the judge escaped unhurt.
The incident occurred after the judge's wife reported her husband missing, having failed to return home for over six hours.
She had received a call from the judge at 10 pm, stating he would be home shortly, but he never arrived.
The wife later drove to Kilimani Police Station and filed a formal report.
The judge's vehicle was tracked using a GPS device, and police were informed that it had been spotted in Kileleshwa, Kabete, and Lavington.
At around 6 am, the car was intercepted by police, who opened fire and deflated the right tyre, bringing it to a halt.
The judge, who was driving himself, identified himself to the officers and denied being held hostage.
He was later driven to his residence, and his vehicle was towed to Kilimani Police Station.
Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed the incident, stating that no one was injured and that the matter was being handled professionally.
The Judicial Service Commission and Chief Justice David Maraga were informed about the incident, and police are investigating the matter with intentions of taking action.
