Ex-Homa Bay County Official Arrested Over Missing Containers

On August 26, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Homa Bay arrested two individuals in connection with the disappearance of two containers belonging to a Mombasa-based shipping company.

Former Homa Bay County Chief Officer in the Department of Roads Chris Agong' and roads inspector John Paul Otieno were taken into custody on Monday evening.

According to Homa Bay County Police Commander Esther Seroney, the containers went missing between May 2017 and April 2018, when Mr. Agong' was still in office.

The two suspects are being detained at Homa Bay Police Station awaiting arraignment.

Investigations revealed that the containers were stolen, resulting in a loss of Ksh.1.4 million.
