Published on August 26, 2019, a Sh11.5 billion industrial park at Northlands City in Ruiru is set to be completed by early next year, according to the South African developer, Improvon.

The construction of Nairobi Gate, the new industrial park, is a joint venture between Improvon and private-equity investor Actis. It will be located in the upcoming Northlands City, which is set to benefit from the Sh40 billion dualling of the Eastern Bypass.

Improvon CEO Stefano Contardo announced the construction timeline update, stating that the completed unit will also target South African firms. He noted that some South African companies have already established themselves in Kenya and can be tenants for the development.

“Some SA companies have established themselves there (in Kenya) already and can be tenants for our development. Kenyan businesses understand English, they are dollar-based and the market is not too competitive so we can do good work there,” he was quoted saying in South African media.

Contardo also stated that Kenya stands out for many reasons, making it an attractive location for businesses. The Nairobi Gate industrial park is expected to open in March next year and will be on land acquired by ImpAct, a joint venture between Improvon and Actis.

ImpAct is providing all of the infrastructure around Nairobi Gate, which is expected to be a 10,000m² industrial business park development.
