On August 26, 2019, news broke that former football star MacDonald Mariga was running for the Kibra MP seat.
Mariga, who has officially retired from football, will be vying for the Jubilee Party ticket against four other candidates.
Earlier, a letter allegedly from Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju leaked, announcing Mariga's retirement from football.
However, Tuju later disowned the letter, stating it was not authentic.
Subsequently, an official announcement was made, bearing Tuju's signature and stamp, confirming Mariga's candidacy.
