On August 26, 2019, a gruesome discovery was made in Wiga village, Homa Bay Sub County, where a 35-year-old man's body was found dumped inside a probox.

According to Area Assistant Chief Andrew Okach, the deceased's eyes were gouged out, and his naked body was mutilated, with deep cuts on the head and bruises on various body parts.

A blood-stained stone was found inside the car, and a bag containing an ATM card, a voter's card, and court documents believed to belong to the deceased was also discovered.

The body was taken to Homa Bay County Referral hospital mortuary for a postmortem, and police have launched investigations to determine the cause of death.

Residents have called on the government to establish a police post in the area to combat insecurity, citing a two-acre piece of land they had donated for the purpose.
