Fatal Road Accident in Kirinyaga County Sparks Violence

On August 26, 2019, a tragic road accident occurred on the Kianyaga-Kutus road in Kirinyaga County, claiming the lives of two people.

A police vehicle was involved in a collision with a boda boda carrying two passengers, who were trying to overtake another car at Rwambiti area.

According to eyewitnesses, the boda boda rider died instantly, while one of the passengers succumbed to their injuries at the Kerugoya Hospital.

The third victim is currently undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

Deputy OCPD Afred Ng'eno confirmed the 8pm accident, attributing the fatal crash to the boda boda rider, who was allegedly drunk at the time.

Ng'eno also announced that a manhunt has been launched for area residents suspected of setting the police car on fire.
