Published on August 26, 2019, Kevin Bahati's life took a dramatic turn when he left the ABC Kenya Children's home in Kariobangi at the age of 18.

After clearing his Fourth Form, Bahati set out to start life on his own, finding a single room to rent in the Githurai estate in Nairobi.

However, his 'mum' at the children's home, Thorunn Helgadottir Lusiru, soon discovered his living conditions and was shocked by the deplorable state of his room, which had only a bed.

She whisked him away to the Thika Road Mall, where she purchased essential items, including blankets and a mattress, to help him start life properly.

Thanks to Lusiru's kindness, Bahati was able to begin his independent life on a positive note.
