Bandari FC coach Bernard Mwalala has urged his team to clear the cobwebs from their wardrobes ahead of a crucial CAF Confederations Cup first round clash with US Ben Guerdane of Tunisia, scheduled for September 14 at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The team secured a spot in the first round for the first time in their history after a battling 1-1 draw against Sudanese side Al Shandy last Friday in Sudan, with an away goal.
According to Mwalala, scoring goals at home should be prioritized, as drawing at home but winning with a big margin could be detrimental to their qualification chances.
“If we are to qualify for the playoffs then we must not repeat the same mistake of drawing at home but winning with a big margin,” said Mwalala.
He added: “North Africans have players like ours so the game is a 50-50 chance and we believe we can proceed.”
Bandari will also start their Kenyan Premier League campaign against Mathare away this weekend, before shifting focus to the Confederation Cup.
At the same time, Gor Mahia, the Kenya representative in the CAF Champions League, have been drawn against USM Algier of Algeria in their first round after eliminating Burundi’s Aigle Noir 5-1 on aggregate.
