David Luiz's Disappointing Debut ¶
David Luiz, the Brazilian centre-back who completed an £8million move from Chelsea to Arsenal this summer, has apologized to fans for his poor performance in the Gunners' 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on August 24.
Luiz was at fault for two of Liverpool's three goals, conceding a penalty in the 49th minute and being comprehensively beaten by Mohamed Salah on the left flank, allowing the Egyptian to complete his brace of the evening.
Despite the defeat, Luiz has taken to his Instagram to thank Arsenal fans for their support and promising to 'fight until the end' for his new club.
'Life is tough and football is tough also sometimes. But I know one thing, I will never give up,' Luiz told his followers.
'I came here with a goal, and I will fight until the end for that. Thank you for the fans, for all the support. I will never hide, wining or losing,' he added.
Luiz's apology comes after a section of fans accused him of parading a poor performance, with some calling for him to be dropped from the team.
