Published on August 26, 2019, a video of Kris Darling, a celebrated reggae DJ, kneeling before ODM party leader Raila Odinga has sparked heated debate in Kenya.

The move, seen as a desperate attempt to secure an endorsement for the vacant Kibra seat, has left many questioning the DJ's decision to venture into politics.

On August 21, Darling had submitted his official documents to the ODM headquarters, signaling his intention to run for the seat.

However, his actions on August 25, where he knelt before Raila Odinga, have been met with criticism, with many labeling it as an attempt to 'buy' an endorsement.

"I have heard that there are many young men in Parliament fighting Baba (Raila), allow me as their fellow youth to go fight them in there as you wait to fight in 2022," Kris Darling can be heard saying in the video.

He went on to declare his readiness to be shot if it meant Raila Odinga would win the 2022 poll.

With 26 other ODM hopefuls vying for the ticket, Kris Darling's chances of securing the endorsement remain uncertain.
