On August 26, 2019, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen took to Facebook to share a heartwarming moment with his followers.
He posted a photo of himself preparing tea in a traditional kitchen, surrounded by the familiar sights and smells of a 'three stones' fireplace.
With rolled-up sleeves and a watchful eye, Murkomen tended to the sufuria of tea, which was simmering away on the traditional cooking setup.
His kitchen, filled with soot from the smoke, was also littered with used utensils, giving a glimpse into the rustic cooking methods used in his village.
Sharing a personal anecdote, Murkomen wrote, 'The Census team deserve at least a cup of tea. I know it because I was an enumerator in the Census 1999. In so far as the source of energy, we use for cooking in my village is concerned, you can definitely guess the answer.'
