On Saturday, the first leg of the Pro-Am Safari tour took place at the par 71 Nyali course in Mombasa, with Dhanji Pindolia emerging as the overall winner.
Pindolia, a handicap 24 golfer from the home club, claimed the overall prize after playing four-level pars against eight bogey shots and double bogey shots on both nines.
He attributed his win to a 'normal easy game,' despite having trained hard, and expressed his hope to defend the title next year.
The day-long tournament also featured Mombasa County Speaker Aharub Khatri, who played off handicap 15, and other notable golfers from the home club.
Among them were Kelly rob, who claimed the men's winner prize on 39 points, and Hitandra Halai, who was the men's runner-up on a countback score of 38 points.
Home club's Mary Kandu was the Lady winner on a countback score of 36 points, tying with club mate Terry Odoo, who was the runner-up.
Meanwhile, Golf Park professional golfer David Wakhu led his team to victory in the Pro Am with a combined score of 86 points.
Wakhu, who is last year's Professional winner of the same event, described this year's conditions on the course as tough, citing strong winds that made drives difficult.
The Pro-Am Safari tour is a 12-series event that includes players from Uganda, Rwanda, and Tanzania, with a prize fund of Sh1 million in each leg.
Professionals are battling for a share of the prize fund as they also chase slots to the Magical Kenya Open Championship, which will be held at the Karen Country Club from March 12-15, next year.
