Kenya's health ministry reported 278 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, raising the national total to 9,726 as three more patients died, according to Health CAS Mercy Mwangangi.
The cases emerged from 1,403 tests conducted in the past day, with the youngest patient a one-year-old and the oldest 86 years old, Mwangangi said.
Nairobi and Mombasa remained the hardest-hit regions with 5,350 and 1,722 infections respectively. Total recoveries reached 2,832 after 99 patients were discharged, while the death toll rose to 184 in 2020.
Mwangangi announced the distribution of five new ventilators to Msambweni Hospital during an inspection in Kwale County, where she assessed hospital preparedness for the pandemic.
