Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia secured a convincing 5-1 win over Burundi's Aigle Noir in the CAF Champions League preliminary round, played at Kasarani on Sunday, August 25.
The KPL champions had settled for a frustrating barren draw in the first leg of the fixture, played in Bujumbura, Burundi. However, they came into the match in search of a convincing win, and they got it.
Nicholas Kipkirui was the star of the show, scoring a brace in the match. He nodded home with a powerful header from a well-taken corner in the 10th minute, and completed his brace in the 38th minute, making it 3-0 for Gor Mahia.
David Ambundo also got his name on the scoresheet with a clinical finish, while Boniface Omondi scored the fifth goal for Gor Mahia with a cheeky backheel.
The visitors, however, pulled one back in the 74th minute, but it was a mere consolation for Aigle Noir.
Gor Mahia will now face the aggregate winner between Algerian side USM Alger and SONIDEP from Niger in the next round of the continental tournament.
