On the first night of the 2019 population census, enumerators visited prisons and hospitals to ensure that every Kenyan's data was captured.

August 25, 2019, marked the beginning of the census process, which kicked off without major incidents.

Enumerators used a simplified questionnaire to collect data from inmates at the Naivasha Medium Prisons, who were amongst the first citizens to be enumerated.

Area Member of Parliament Jayne Kihara expressed appreciation for the efforts put in place by the state to ensure every Kenyan is counted.

Enumerators also reached out to persons admitted in various hospitals, including the Nakuru Referral Hospital, capturing data belonging to patients, their caregivers, and medics attending.

Nakuru County Commissioner Erastus Mwensa emphasized that the government could not afford to leave out any Kenyan on an exercise as important as this.
