Kenyan athlete David Rudisha, an 800m World and Olympic Champion, has survived a harrowing road accident in his hometown of Kilgoris.

According to reports, the accident occurred on a Sunday morning when Rudisha's Toyota V8 collided head-on with a commuter bus.

Fortunately, Rudisha escaped with slight leg injuries and was X-rayed as a precaution before making a statement at the Kilgoris Police station.

His close call highlights the alarming rise in road accidents in Kenya, a trend that has seen several high-profile incidents in recent times.

Just last week, Ikolomani lawmaker Benson Shinali and his family narrowly escaped a road accident while driving to Nairobi after a funeral, while former AFC Leopards chairman Felix Shitsama tragically lost his life in a road accident along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
