On Saturday, August 24, a devastating road collision occurred at Gatunyu, Gatanga in Murang'a County, claiming the lives of three people and leaving five others injured.
The victims were traveling from the funeral of renowned Benga musician John De'Mathew, who had died in a road crash just six days earlier.
According to reports, the collision involved a saloon car and a pickup, and the injured were rushed to Thika Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
Two of the deceased were brothers, and their untimely deaths have sent shockwaves through the community.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto attended De'Mathew's funeral, which was held on August 18, and paid their respects to the late musician.
DP Ruto described De'Mathew as a 'good natured, humble and gifted musician' who had used his talent to nurture upcoming artists and compose enduring songs.
