Senator Mithika Linturi, a battle-hardened politician, is embroiled in a messy divorce case with Maryanne Keitany, the former Chief of Staff at the office of the Deputy President.
The divorce proceedings have been a thriller, with both parties making shocking allegations against each other.
Keitany claims that Linturi paid Sh100,000 as bride price when he visited her parents' home in Nandi and also gifted her mother with a new Nissan X-trail.
She further alleges that Linturi rented a house on Ngong Road and she would often bail him out when he fell behind with the rent worth Sh200,000.
Linturi, however, has dismissed the claims of marriage, saying the case was malicious and meant to deprive him of his properties in Nairobi and Meru, which he acquired single-handedly.
He claims that Keitany has no proof of her contribution towards the acquisition of the properties.
The senator's past is also shrouded in controversy, having been involved in a scandalous impeachment motion against Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru.
Keitany was eventually forced to step aside in early 2015 after allegations of diverting some Sh100 million to bribe MPs to shoot down the censure motion.
