On Saturday, Muranga Woman Representative Sabina Chege addressed allegations of dating musician John De Mathew, confirming what actually happened amidst the musician's burial.

Speaking at the burial, Chege disclosed that she knew De Mathew when she was a broadcaster at a local media house, where a friendship grew.

She clarified that contrary to media reports, she never dated the musician and has no child with the deceased.

“Those claiming that I have a child with De Mathew, if I had a child with him you would have seen the child here today alongside his other children,” said Chege.

“To those claiming that I was De Mathew’s lover, we are all gathered here because we dearly loved him,” she added.

Chege confirmed that she was one of the dancers and even produced a song with the deceased, but was not involved beyond that.

She condemned the press for dragging her into the mix, alleging that she had an affair with the deceased.

Media reports had been awash with claims of a love affair between the legislator and the deceased musician.

Chege also addressed reports that she dumped De Mathew for controversial bishop James Nganga, stating, “We would not have liked to embarrass John when he was alive…To those who are writing about such issues, please know that John has a family. Apart from being in politics, I am also a mother and I have a family. I demand my respect.”

The musician, who had released 375 songs, perished in a road accident along Thika road and was buried yesterday at a ceremony attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
