Gor Mahia's new signing, Tobias Otieno, has made a significant impression on coach Steven Pollack, who believes the young midfielder has a bright future ahead of him.

Otieno, who joined the team from Sony Sugar on a one-year contract last month, has already started two matches under Pollack's guidance. The coach is impressed by Otieno's eagerness to learn and his constant questioning of positioning and technical aspects of the game.

“Tobias is a brilliant midfielder. He is still very young and has age on his side, and I honestly think he will develop into one of the best defensive midfielders,” Pollack said.

Despite signing a short-term deal with Gor Mahia, Otieno's handlers are reportedly working on a move to the US once his contract expires. The youngster started his career at Kisumu lower-tier side Manyatta United in 2014 before moving to Sony Sugar two seasons ago.

As a regular starter at Sony Sugar, Otieno caught the attention of Gor Mahia, who signed him as back-up to Ernest Wendo. With Bernard Ondieki as the only worthy competitor for a first-team place, Otieno's chances of starting increased.

The probable Gor Mahia line-up for the match against Aigle Noir includes David Mapigano in goal, Joash Onyango, Charles Momanyi, Geoffrey Ochieng, Wellington Ochieng, Tobias Otieno, Kenneth Muguna, Lawrence Juma, Boniface Omondi, Nicholas Kipkirui, and Dickson Ambundo.

The match kicks off at 4 pm on Sunday afternoon.
