On Saturday, Liverpool made it three successive victories in the Premier League, thanks to a 3-1 win over Arsenal at Anfield. The Reds' perfect start to the season was inspired by Mohamed Salah, who scored twice, including a stunning solo effort.
Salah's first goal came in the 41st minute, when he headed home from Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner. Four minutes after half-time, Salah scored his second goal of the season, driving home a penalty after David Luiz tugged at him.
Salah's stunning solo strike in the 59th minute put talk of Arsenal's revival in perspective. The Egypt forward accelerated away from Luiz and Nacho Monreal before finishing off a superb solo strike.
Lucas Torreira got one back for Arsenal in the 85th minute, but it was too late for an escape act.
Meanwhile, Manchester United suffered a shock home defeat against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford. The visitors took the lead in the 32nd minute, thanks to a side-footed finish by Jordan Ayew, who was played onside by Harry Maguire.
United's Marcus Rashford had a chance to equalize from the spot, but his penalty cannoned back off the woodwork. Rashford fared no better in the second half, hitting the post from the spot, and United eventually lost 2-1 in stoppage-time.
Palace's Patrick van Aanholt scored the decisive goal in the third minute of added time, as United 'keeper David de Gea allowed his shot to squeeze under him at the near post.
It was Palace's first league win over United since May 1991 and their first league victory at Old Trafford since December 1989.
"Two games, two missed penalties. It's part and parcel of it. If we keep putting ourselves in those positions we will get more penalties and we will score," United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.
"We have dominated the game but we have not controlled it. We weren't clinical enough in front of goal. We defended poorly at times and it cost us," Solskjaer added.
