On August 24, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta urged all Kenyans to participate in the national census, which kicked off on Saturday evening.

The President emphasized the significance of the census in providing data needed for planning national development activities, stating that 'we need to be counted, we need to know who we are, where we are in order for us to be able to divide the resources that God has given us in a manner that is equitable, that reaches every single citizen of this country.'

Speaking at the 60th anniversary of the Christ Is The Answer Ministries (CITAM) in Karen, Nairobi County, President Kenyatta noted that proper planning and execution of government projects rely on accurate facts about the population.

He further stated that the census would help the public understand why certain projects are being carried out in particular places by their government, adding that 'we don't do this on guesswork, we need to do it based on facts.'

The President called on Kenyans to unite and work together for the good of their nation, saying it is the responsibility of every citizen to shape the country they desire.
