Manchester United's struggles in the Premier League continued as they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace in Matchweek 3.

On August 24, 2019, at Old Trafford in Manchester, Jordan Ayew opened the scoring for Crystal Palace in the 32nd minute, capitalizing on sloppy defending by Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Despite maintaining possession and dominating play, Manchester United were unable to breach the Crystal Palace defense, with goalkeeper Vicente Guaita thwarting their efforts.

The Red Devils had several opportunities to score, including a number of free kicks taken by Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford, but were unable to find the back of the net.

However, Manchester United did earn a penalty in the 70th minute after Scott McTominay was brought down by Luka Milivojevic, but Marcus Rashford's effort from the spot hit the post, denying the Old Trafford dwellers an equalizer.

It was a frustrating day for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as his team's attempts to score were repeatedly thwarted.

Despite this, Manchester United did manage to equalize late in the game through Daniel James, who scored in the 89th minute after a penetrating pass from Paul Pogba.

However, Crystal Palace were able to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, as Christian Benteke dispossessed Pogba at stoppage time and Patrick Van Aanholt scored in extra time to seal the win for the Eagles.
