On August 24, 2019, Murang'a women representative Sabina Chege addressed rumors surrounding her personal life, specifically those linking her to legendary singer John De Mathew.
She clarified that she had never been in a romantic relationship with the singer, dismissing the rumors as baseless.
“I have never been John De Mathew’s lover. Please respect my family and children,” she said while addressing mourners at Githambia Primary school in Gatanga.
She also addressed the rumors of having a child with De Mathew, stating that if such a child existed, it would have been present at the event.
“Those of you who are saying I had a child with De Mathew, you could have seen her/him here today,” she said.
Furthermore, Chege demanded respect from the public, emphasizing her role as a mother and a politician.
“Apart from being in politics, I’m also a mother and demand my respect,” she said.
It is worth noting that Chege had previously worked with De Mathew in the entertainment industry, featuring in one of his videos, Njata Yakwa (My Star), as a video vixen.
