Sabina Chege Denies Romance with Late Musician John De'Mathew

On August 18, 2019, musician John De'Mathew tragically passed away after being involved in a fatal road accident near the Blue Post hotel in Thika.

De'Mathew, who was 52 years old at the time of his death, had released over 375 songs and had 50 albums to his name. He left behind two daughters, Sarafina Wairimu and Caroline Waithera, and seven grandchildren.

Following De'Mathew's death, there were rumors that Sabina Chege, a female representative of Murang'a County, had been in a romantic relationship with the late musician. Chege, however, has denied these allegations, stating that she only acted in one of De'Mathew's songs and had no romantic relationship with him.

Speaking at De'Mathew's funeral, Chege criticized the media for spreading false information about her, despite her having a family. She claimed that if she had been in a romantic relationship with De'Mathew, she would have attended the funeral with her children.

“I have come here because we loved him so much,” Chege said in her eulogy.

De'Mathew's wife, however, had previously hinted at the possibility of a romantic relationship between Chege and her late husband in an interview with Tuko.
