On July 27, 2019, Kenya's national junior polo team made a strong impression at the Lusaka International Championships in Zambia, defeating the USA 17-5.
The team, comprising Jazini Nzomo, Ben Stonewigg, Tom Stonewigg, and William Millar, showcased exceptional teamwork and skill, with each player scoring at least three goals in the four-chukka match.
Jazini Nzomo led the charge with five goals, while Ben Stonewigg and Tom Stonewigg scored three each. William Millar also contributed three goals to the team's success.
The US team, consisting of Oliver Wieser, Augustus Grootnik, Cipriano Echezarreta, and Ava Rose Hinkson, managed to score through Echezarreta's hat-trick and Grootnik's brace in the second and fourth chukkas.
Kenya will face Zambia B in the next match, while Zambia A awaits them in the following day's competition.
Meanwhile, the Bwana Begg Murray and Connaught Cup Polo Championships at Northern Polo Club in Timau were cancelled due to heavy rains on July 27, 2019.
Tournament director George Mc Corkell explained, 'We had to cancel it due to the heavy rains in the Mount Kenya region and hope to resume this morning in case there will be no heavy rains.'
