On Thursday, Cabinet secretaries Fred Matiang'i (Interior), Joe Mucheru (Information and Communications), and Ukur Yatani (acting Treasury and Planning CS) held a press briefing outside Harambee House to discuss the upcoming 2019 National Census, scheduled for Saturday, August 24.
However, the briefing has been met with criticism on social media, with many pointing out the absence of female representation among the top government officials.
As seen in pictures circulating online, the three CSs were flanked by other government officials, all of whom were men. This has led to a flurry of comments on social media, with many questioning the lack of diversity and inclusivity in the government's representation.
Dr. Matiang'i urged Kenyans to comply with the enumerators who will be knocking on their doors from August 24, but the lack of female representation at the press conference has overshadowed the briefing's main message.
As one social media user noted, 'No country for women,' tweeted SABC correspondent Sarah Kimani. Others have also weighed in, with some calling for greater diversity and inclusivity in the government's representation.
