Kenya Power has kicked off a search for a new Chief Executive Officer, with the position open until September 6. The power utility firm has called on interested parties to apply for the post through a notice in newspapers.

The new CEO will provide overall day-to-day leadership and administration of operations under the guidance of the board, as well as develop and recommend short, medium, and long-term strategies for the company.

Other key responsibilities will include advising the board on operations, financial, investment planning, and sustainable development of company interests.

Applicants will be required to meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution, including a certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, a clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board, and tax-compliance from the Kenya Revenue Authority.

Notably, the current CEO and several senior managers at the company were charged with conspiracy to commit an economic crime and abuse of office last year. The former CEO, Ken Tarus, and his predecessor, Ben Chumo, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
