On the 41st anniversary of Jomo Kenyatta's death, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu's ire and frustrations boiled over at the commemoration service held at Kenyatta's mausoleum along Parliament Road on July 20, 2019.

While attending the memorial service, Waititu registered his displeasure with Interior CS Fred Matiang'i in the presence of Deputy President William Ruto, Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, and Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.

According to Waititu, Matiang'i was fueling his woes so that his deputy James Nyoro, who went to school with Matiang'i, could take over as the Kiambu Governor.

Waititu also claimed that Nominated MP Maina Kamanda was part of the people giving him sleepless nights.

“The people who have been bothering me is Kamanda and Matiang’i. Matiang’i and Nyoro went to the same school and have a history,” Waititu was heard saying.

DP Ruto broke out in laughter and shied away from making a response.
