Junior Agogo, a former Ghanaian football star, has passed away at the age of 40 after a long battle with a stroke.

Agogo, who was a fan-favourite during his playing days with Nottingham Forest and the Ghana national team, succumbed to the illness on August 22, 2019, at a London hospital.

He had been battling the condition for two years after retiring from football, leaving him debilitated and unable to recover.

Agogo's passing has sent shockwaves through the football fraternity, with tributes pouring in from former team-mates, clubs, and fans.

Sheffield Wednesday, one of the clubs Agogo played for, paid tribute to the late footballer, saying, "Our thoughts are with Junior's family and friends at this very difficult time. RIP."

Agogo began his career at Sheffield Wednesday's academy before rising through the ranks and playing for top English clubs, including Nottingham Forest, where he scored 12 times in 27 games for Ghana.
