Published on August 22, 2019, a video has surfaced showing Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu confiding in Deputy President William Ruto about his challenges.
Waititu, who was among leaders attending the memorial service for Kenya's founding President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, pointed fingers at Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and Jubilee nominated MP Maina Kamanda as his biggest adversaries.
"The people who have been bothering me is Kamanda and Matiang'i. Matiang'i and Nyoro went to the same school and have a history," Waititu was heard saying in the video.
Deputy President Ruto was seen laughing in response, describing Waititu as a hardcore individual.
Others present during the conversation included Majority Leaders Aden Duale (National Assembly), Kipchumba Murkomen (Senate), and Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja.
Waititu has been in the political cold since the courts barred him from accessing his office due to a corruption case against him, with Kiambu Deputy Governor James Nyoro assuming his responsibilities in the meantime.
