Francis Wangusi, the outgoing Director General of the Communications Authority of Kenya, has found himself at odds with the new appointee, Mercy Wanjau, after refusing to hand over to her.

Wangusi's term came to an end on Wednesday, but he claims he was never informed on whom to hand over the responsibilities to. He only came to know of the new CEO after she was unveiled on Thursday morning to the media.

CA chairman Ngene Gituku announced Wanjau as the new Acting director-general in a press briefing that lasted less than three minutes. Wanjau is a commercial lawyer, regulatory and governance expert working with the CA as the director Legal Services and board secretary.

Wangusi has refused to hand over to Mrs. Wanjau, citing her as 'incompetent', and adding that the board refused her appointment. He revealed his concerns in a statement, saying, 'It is sad that a few people with selfish interests are forcing an incompetent person to head such a vital government institution.'

Wanjau was appointed on Thursday to take charge in an acting capacity, but Wangusi's refusal to hand over has left the institution in a state of limbo.
