Jesse Were Recalled to Harambee Stars Squad ¶
Published on August 22, 2019
Kenyan striker Jesse Were has been recalled to Harambee Stars after being frozen out of the squad by former head coach Sebastien Migne.
Were, the all-time Zambian Premier League top scorer with Zesco United, was omitted by Migne, who argued that the former Tusker FC hitman has a poor conversion rate in Harambee Stars jersey.
This was the second time the French tactician overlooked Were, having previously left him out in the final AFCON qualifier match against Ghana.
However, he has been afforded a new lease of life after newly appointed coach Francis Kimanzi named him in the team to play Uganda Cranes in a friendly match.
The team will be skippered by Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama, with inform Japan-based striker Michael Olunga leading the attackline.
Kenya will host Uganda Cranes in an international friendly match on Sunday, September 8, at Kasarani stadium.
Francis Kimanzi has made only one change from the squad that won just one of the three group stage matches in Cairo.
