Co-op Bank CEO Embroiled in Scandal with Married Woman ¶
August 22, 2019
A senior executive at Co-operative Bank of Kenya is at the center of a scandal involving an illicit romance with a married woman, who is the wife of a former Deputy Governor in the Mt Kenya Region.
The woman, a senior manager at the bank's branch in the former Central Kenya Region, was allegedly transferred to the head office to facilitate the affair, which has been going on for years.
According to sources, the Co-op Bank CEO, who is also a respected church elder in a Nairobi church, has been involved with the woman for a long time and has even served as the best man at her wedding.
The husband of the woman, who is reportedly broke and has no say in his wife's extra-marital activities, is said to be unaware of the affair.
The scandal has raised eyebrows, with some colleagues of the woman at the bank leaking the information to the press.
Others have suggested that the affair was leaked by the CEO's detractors, who have been critical of his alleged intentions to run for a senior political office in 2022.
