Reggae DJ Kriss Darlin, known for his hit songs and energetic performances, has taken a bold step into politics by announcing his candidacy for the Kibra MP seat.
According to sources, Kriss has registered with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and will be among the candidates shortlisted for party nominations.
His decision to join politics has elicited mixed reactions from his fans, with some arguing that he could have chosen another party instead of ODM.
On Monday, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced that the Kibra Constituency by-election will be held on November 7, 2019.
A gazette notice directed all political parties intending to participate in the by-election to forward names of aspirants who will participate in the party primary elections as well as the date of the primaries on or before Monday August 26, 2019.
Independent candidates are required to submit their names and symbol to IEBC on the same date.
