Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga are set to embark on a nationwide tour to drum up support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI). The tour, which is expected to take place in the coming days, will see the two leaders visit various counties across the country to educate Kenyans on the proposed constitutional amendments.

According to Raphael Tuju, the Jubilee Party Secretary-General, the tour will provide an opportunity for Kenyans to understand the direction the country is taking on the BBI. 'I believe that the two leaders will tour the country and explain the proposals, which will outline the direction the country is taking and what needs to be reduced in the draft,' Tuju said.

Meanwhile, the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has reported that commercial banks have received KSh 25 billion, which has not been deposited into the banks. The CBK also reported that KSh 222 billion was reported missing from the banks in May, but the amount has since decreased to KSh 196 billion.

9.8% of the decrease in the amount is attributed to Kenyans who are eager to exchange their old KSh 1,000 notes for new currency. It is believed that since the introduction of the new currency, many people have stored their old notes at home due to the difference in value and also for acquiring them through illicit means.

Elsewhere, the opposition leader Raila Odinga is set to lead a meeting to determine the method of selecting the ODM candidate for the Kibra by-election. The meeting is expected to take place at the Orange House, where six candidates have already arrived to express their interest in vying for the seat.

Among the candidates vying for the seat are Imran Okoth, the son of the late Okoth, former Embakasi MP Irshad Sumra, Kibra youth leader Benson Musungu Sigar Agumba, and former Sarang'ombe Councillor Awino Kotieno.

Additionally, the People Daily has reported on the mix-up that occurred during the official photo shoot of President Uhuru Kenyatta. In some of the photos, the caption reads 'Muheshimiwa Uhuru Kenyatta C.G.H Rais na Kamanda Mkuu - katika - Jeshi ya Taifa ya Kenya.' However, Joseph Kenya, the Head of Public Service and Secretary to the Cabinet, has clarified that the caption should read 'Muheshimiwa Uhuru Kenyatta C.G.H Rais wa Jamuhuri ya Kenya na Kamanda Mkuu katika Jeshi.'
