On August 19, 2019, the East Africa Secondary School games kicked off at the Tanzania Game Track and Safaris grounds in Arusha, Tanzania, with Kenya's Mogonga PAG volleyball team making a strong impression.
As the Kenyan boys continued their winning ways, they were set to face off against Uganda's STAHIZA in the semifinals, with the Ugandans looking to put up a strong challenge.
According to Mogonga coach Nathan Kiptoo, the team's aim was to seal a spot in the final, and they were motivated to do so after reaching the semifinals as first-timers.
"We are first-timers and that has worked in our favour because none of our opponents expected us to get this far. We have played very well and reaching the semi-finals has motivated us to go for the trophy," Kiptoo said.
He added that despite their impressive run, they would have to up their game to secure a spot in the final.
"We have to put in more effort because winning is the only option left. We will approach the match just like we have done others; with the aim of playing in the final," said Kiptoo.
