Published on August 22, 2019, a letter signed by Migori County's Chief Officer for Public Service Management, Roseline Otieno, requested Ksh.615,600 for seven officials to attend a four-day meeting in Mombasa.
The officials, from the department of public service management, were among other executives from other departments attending a bonding session with the Migori Members of County Assembly.
Migori Senator Ochilo Ayacko criticized the meeting, calling it a waste of public funds, and questioned the source of the money being spent by both the executive and the MCAs, given the county government's claims of being broke.
Senator Ayacko suggested that the funds could have been better spent on essential services, such as buying drugs for the county health facilities.
