On August 21, 2019, news broke that Kriss Darlin, a veteran reggae DJ from Kibera, had thrown his hat into the political arena, seeking to replace the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
According to reports, Darlin was photographed at ODM House with a certificate, sparking speculation about his intentions.
Ken Okoth, who was 41 at the time of his death, had been serving his second term as Kibra MP. He passed away on July 25, 2019, after being rushed to Nairobi Hospital's ICU due to multiple organ failure.
