IItigo and Nyakach Storm to Semis at East Africa School Games ¶

Kenyan teams Itigo and Nyakach secured semi-final spots at the East Africa School Games in Arusha, Tanzania, after impressive performances.
Itigo, led by Harambee Starlets forward Martha Amunyolete, beat Uganda's Kawempe 1-0 in the first half, with Amunyolete scoring the winning goal in the 14th minute. The goal was set up by a well-taken corner by Mary Adhiambo.
Nyakach, the four-time national champions, made a comeback to the East Africa scene after a 12-year drought and thrashed Kihesa of Tanzania 2-0 to secure their semi-final spot.
Speaking after qualifying for the semis, head coach Philip Kipkoech expressed confidence in Itigo's chances, saying, 'We are have come all through as underdogs and I think this has helped us to come this far and I believe my charges are primed for the final and eventually clinch the maiden title.'
The semi-finals will see Itigo face Mukono of Uganda, while Nyakach will clash with last year's runners-up Kawempe in a Kenya-Uganda affair.
Elsewhere, multiple national handball champions Kimilili advanced to the boys' semi-finals after defeating Gombe of Uganda in the final pool matches.
