On August 21, 2019, a team of scientists led by Dr. Helen Pilcher published a study in The Beano, a British children's magazine, to find the world's funniest fart.
According to the study, the formula for the funniest fart includes factors such as intensity, length, social embarrassment, and the number of children present divided by the age and gender of the person hearing it.
The study found that the funniest fart received a mean score of 8.27 out of 10 in a public vote, with some describing it as 'unfortunate' and 'potentially messy.'
Dr. Pilcher stated, 'The funniest fart is long, loud, and ever so slightly wet. This gives it the potential to cause major social embarrassment.'
The research also revealed that men found farts 5% funnier than women, and children found them 23% funnier than adults. Young adults in the 18-24 age group were the least amused.
Mike Stirling, editorial director of Beano Studios, said, 'We hired some genuine boffins to prove it, by helping us release the funniest fart of all time - you know, for science.'
