The former president's body was displayed in Parliament with daily wardrobe changes as Kenyans viewed his remains over two days. Moi, who died in 2020, was dressed in a grey suit, white shirt, and colorful tie on the first day of public viewing, later switching to a black suit, red necktie, and white shirt for the second day.
His meticulous attention to attire reflected a lifelong habit of dressing in coordinated outfits for public appearances. The casket was transported by carriage, a tradition also used during the 1978 funeral of founding President Jomo Kenyatta.
The body lay in state until Monday, followed by an interdenominational service at Nyayo National Stadium on Tuesday. Moi was buried in Kabarak on Wednesday, with his clothing from the display potentially preserved in his mausoleum.
